Building a world with polite Software.
Polite is the new project of Tariq Krim, an entrepreneur and technology thinker who is the founder of netvibes and the late Jolicloud Platform.
Polite combines a Studio, a think tank, and an independent platform.
Building products with purpose.
In 2008, while most people were celebrating the rise of mobile and Cloud monopolies, we were concerned that a handful of platforms could privatize the Internet we loved.
It's the reason why we launched the JoliOS, and the Jolibook to offer a platform-neutral device alternative to connect to our life online.
Our ideas were ahead of their time: we were the first consumer platform to offer a web-based computer (two years before the Google Chromebook) and one of the first companies to put privacy and ownership of your data first.
The Jolicloud project was discontinued after the Paris attack; After spending some time offline, Tariq started advocating for a less suffocating tech.
The Polite Toolbox (formerly dissident.ai) is an attempt to recreate a healthy environment to access our content online.
Released as a side-project for friends and family, the Polite Toolbox is available to the public via a modest subscription fee.
Today, we are cultivating our design and software ideas into new projects.
Our Design philosophy.
Instead of living in multiple product universes with incompatible rules, we believe in unifying content experience that stimulates our creative autonomy.
All our products are "no logo," they use simple design to limit noise and unwanted notifications.
