The Polite Toolbox uses cookies on its websites. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser, which allows it to save information between internet pages and browsing sessions.

1. Definition
Cookies are small text files generated by websites you visit. They permit the saving of data, which can be useful thereafter. This data enables your browser to save your information between web pages and to analyze how you interact with the website.
Cookies are secure. They can only store information that is provided by the browser, introduced by the user in the browser or is included in the requested pages.
There are two different types of cookies which are used differently and have different contents:

Temporary cookies: contain information that is used in your browsing session. These cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Nothing is saved on your computer once your browsing is over.

Persistent cookies: are used to store information that is used between visits. This data allows websites to know if you are regular client and to get compatible consequently. Persistent cookies have a long-term value, which is defined by the website and can last from several minutes to several years.
2. Content of the cookies
Temporary cookies include:

information about the method you used to sign up into the Polite Toolbox (email, Google or Facebook),

your language and the device you are using, the resolution of your device screen (retina or not).
Persistent cookies include:

information about your account that allows us to identify you when using the application (session identifier, token to get user data from the backend),

the identifier to track usage of the application, with the goal of improving it by determining most popular use cases, visited pages, etc…
3. Our technological partners' cookies
Some of the tools we use to improve the application may also store cookies on your device. We are using the following third-party services storing cookies:

Google Analytics: used to track visits in the application and user behavior anonymously.

Mixpanel: used to track the user actions in the application.

Google: users can sign in the application using their Google (or Google+) account. Google needs to store the account information in a cookie. It is also used to share content on Google+ social network.

Facebook: users can sign in the application using their Facebook account. Facebook needs to store the account information in a cookie.

Intercom: service used to communicate with users for support and acquire user feedback.
The Polite Toolbox allows users to view and edit files from our partner's services, using their own viewers. These document viewers can use cookies to allow file viewing and editing, such as - and not limited to - Google Drive, OneDrive, YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud.

4. To control or disable cookies
All Internet browsers enable you to limit cookies' behaviors or to disable them in the settings or options of your browser. The process is different for every single browser. You can find instructions in the menu "Help" menu of your respective browser.
Thanks to your browser, you can also view cookies present on your computer and delete them one by one or all in one go.

To enable cookies in the "Cookies" section, pick ‘Allow local data to be set’, this will enable both first-party and third-party cookies. To allow only first-party cookies pick ‘Block all third-party cookies without exception’

To disable cookies, in the "Cookies" section, pick ‘Block sites from setting any data’

To clear cookies saved on your device, go to More actions > Settings, and under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear, and then select the Cookies and saved website data check box.

To manage cookies, go to More actions > Settings, and under Advanced settings, select View advanced Settings, and then, under Privacy and services > Cookies, choose the option you want. (Block all cookies blocks all cookies that websites try to save to your computer. Block only third party cookies blocks third party cookies, which are saved by external web services, such as ads embedded on webpages you have navigated to.)
